The Flashcards collection is a set of curated vocabulary decks with pictures, ready to use in class. You can browse them, print them, and save the cards you want into your own decks.

Browse the decks

  1. Open Collections > Flashcards.

  2. Pick a category from the list on the left, or leave it on All and use Search flashcards to look across everything at once.

  3. Click a card to see it larger.

Two picture styles

The Illustration / Realistic switch in the top right changes the pictures across the whole library, not just one deck. Illustrations are cleaner for low-level learners; photos are better when you want learners to recognise the real thing. Flip it and see which suits your class.

Print a set for class

  1. Open the deck or category you want.

  2. Click Print and choose your layout.

  3. Print. This is the fastest route to a physical set of cards and needs nothing else set up.

Save cards into your own deck

  1. Tick the cards you want. If you tick nothing, Roshi takes everything currently on screen, so choose a category first unless you really want the whole library.

  2. Click Save to My Decks. The button counts your selection, for example Save 12 to My Decks.

  3. Name the deck. Roshi fills in the category name for you, so you can just press Save.

Once you own at least one deck, this step also offers Create a new deck and Add to an existing deck, so you can keep adding to a deck you have already started.

Saved cards are your copy. Rename the deck, edit a term or definition, add your own cards, or remove the ones that do not fit your class. The curated deck is unchanged.

Your decks live in My Library. See Organize your content in My Library.

Use a deck inside a lesson

Decks and lessons connect both ways from any Vocabulary List block:

  • Add from deck pulls a deck you own into the lesson as vocabulary items.

  • Save as deck turns a vocabulary list you wrote in a lesson into a reusable deck in My Library.

  • The block's Menu also has Print Flashcards, so any vocabulary list in a lesson can become physical cards.

So a curated deck can become lesson vocabulary, and lesson vocabulary can become a deck you keep.

Good to know

  • A few decks are built around listening rather than pictures, so those cards show the word on its own.

  • Nothing you do in the browse view changes the curated decks, so it is safe to click around.
